PRMS: GENERAL INFORMATION FOR PASSENGERS WITH RESTRICTED MOBILITY
EC Regulation gives to airport management companies the responsibility for the assistance services in all European airports.
Assistance for PRMs is totally free of charge.

How to request assistance
The assistance request should be notified to the airline at the moment of the flight booking and at the latest 48 hours before departure, in order to guarantee a reliable service. Airline company will notice the assistance request to all stopovers included in the route.
Airline company may request further information about the assistance, possible transport/use of medical equipment or mobility aids, possible need of travelling with assistance dogs.
In specific cases (for example after surgery), airline can ask for a permit to flight by the treating physician.
Luggage and assistance dogs
EC Regulation let a larger baggage allowance to PRMs for the transport of medical equipment or mobility aids (max 2 devices). Moreover, assistance dogs can travel inside the aircraft cabin free of charge, prior notification to the airline.
Departing from Abruzzo Airport
Presentation time
In order to receive the requested assistance and carry out check-in procedures, please show up at the scheduled time to the designated points or check-in area.
PRMs, going to the designated point inside the Airport, have to show up at least:
1) two hours before the departure time of national flights;
2) two and a half hours before the departure time of international flights;
3) three and a half hours before the departure time of intercontinental flights.
PRMs, going directly to the check-in area, have to show up at least:
1) one hour before the departure time of national flights;
2) two hours before the departure time of international flights;
3) three hours before the departure time of intercontinental flights.
Parking
Parking is free of charge at Abruzzo Airport, inside all areas dedicated to PRMs. The original copy of the DPR 495/1992 permit and the parking ticket have to be shown to the manner cashier or to the information desk.

PRMs can request assistance directly to the check-in area and the aid service will be assured until boarding.

Arriving to Abruzzo Airport
Aid service for PRMs is assured from deboarding the aircraft until arriving to the means of transport or release points.
Who is this service aimed at?
Abruzzo Airport offers assistance to the following PRMs (see the IATA international codes):
• blind and legally blind passengers (cod. BLND);
• passengers with 3 types of motor disabilities:
• people with difficulties in walking long distances;
• people who can go up and down the stairs,
• people who can walk independently with a wheelchair (cod. WCHR);
• people with difficulties in walking long distances and cannot go up and down the stairs;
• people who are autonomous inside the aircraft (cod. WCHS);
• people who are completely unable to move and not self-sufficient;
• people who need total assistance (cod. WCHC)
• passengers who have hearing impairment (cod. DEAF);
• passengers who have intellectual or behavioral disabilities (cod. DPNA).
Complaint
In case of lack of the safeguards provided, you can address your complaint to the airline first. Later you can lodge a formal complaint directly to ENAC (Civil Aviation National Authority), the Italian institution responsible for compliance with the PRMs rights.
Quality standards
Check the Service Charter in order to verify the airport quality standards aimed at PRMs.
Special means
Abruzzo Airport offers special means for PRMs:
• different sizes wheelchairs to move inside the airport;
• variable height wheelchairs for boarding;
• loan wheelchairs in case of late drop-off or damage of the passenger's one.
